Shreveport Fire Department received calls for a report of a house fire in the 7100 block of Jewella Ave. on Tuesday, May 6, at 7:41pm. Engine 15 arrived first on scene at 7:44pm and reported heavy smoke and flames visible from the single-story wood-frame structure.

A total of 8 fire units and 25 firefighters responded to the incident. Crews were able to extinguish the blaze by 7:56pm. The home is believed to be vacant with no utilities connected. At this time there are no reports of any injuries to citizens or firefighters.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by Shreveport Fire arson investigators.
