The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office has released updated crime statistics for the unincorporated areas of Bossier Parish through April 30. This highlights several promising developments in the parish’s public safety landscape and reinforces its reputation as one of the safest and fastest growing communities in Louisiana. Sheriff Julian Whittington credited proactive policing strategies as well as community partnerships for the positive results.
According to the report, Bossier Parish has seen:
• Zero (0) Homicides
• Zero (0) Robberies
• Violent Crime index remains stable, showing a modest 3% increase, primarily attributed to slight upticks in assault and intimidation cases
• Rape Reports: down 6%
• Property Crimes: down 13%
• Auto Theft: down 64%
• General Theft: down 5%
• Burglary: down 29%
This forward-leaning strategy has led to the creation of specialized units targeting specific criminal threats. These units are tasked with identifying and arresting child molesters, sex offenders, drunk drivers, and drug violators reflecting a zero-tolerance policy toward such crimes. Continuous investigations, surveillance, and community outreach programs help to deter crime before it occurs.
Sheriff Whittington emphasized the department’s proactive posture in maintaining public safety by stating, “We are not waiting for crimes to be reported, we will continue to actively and aggressively search for offenders before they can harm others. Our citizens expect safety and we are committed to delivering it.”
The Sheriff’s Office also credits community involvement, neighborhood watch programs, and enhanced technology for helping track and prevent criminal activity across the parish. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office. The department continues to invest in community engagement and preventative enforcement, working hand-in-hand with the public to uphold safety and order throughout the parish.
