BATON ROUGE – Calvary sophomore guard Tyrone “T.J.” Jamison collected one final honor for the 2024-25 season over the weekend when the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches recognized him as its Class AA state Player of the Year at the LABC’s annual honors banquet Saturday night.
Jamison, who averaged 15.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 6.7 assists as the Cavaliers made another run to the state championship game, was the Outstanding Player on the Shreveport-Bossier Journal’s All-Metro team. He also netted the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 2A Outstanding Player award.
The 6-2 Jamison is rated as the top point guard on ESPN’s Class of 2027 recruiting ranks.
The Cavaliers posted a 28-4 record, playing some top-flight out-of-state opponents and a series of games against some of the state’s strongest programs from bigger classifications. Rolling through district play, Calvary earned the No. 1 seeding in the Select Division III bracket and blitzed three playoff opponents before Metairie Park-Country Day controlled the tempo and stunned the Cavs in the state finals.
Country Day’s coach, Mike McGuire, was the LABC’s choice as the Class AA Coach of the Year.
The LABC was founded a half-century ago and is comprised of college men’s basketball coaches from around the state. Bossier Parish Community College head coach J.A. Anglin was thanked for his year of service as the LABC president during the Saturday festivities.
Among Anglin’s incoming recruits for the 2025-26 BPCC season is Plainview guard Zequan Lewis, who led the Hornets to the Class C state title and was named the LABC’s Class C Player of the Year.
