Quick-thinking SPD officers arrest would-be robber

Shreveport Police officers were dispatched to the area of Hassett and Oak Crest Street in reference to a suspicious male walking through the neighborhood on April 26, just after 7:50pm.

Upon arrival, officers observed a man wearing a ski mask. When officers attempted to contact him, the
suspect immediately fled on foot. During the pursuit, the man discarded what was later confirmed to be a
firearm. Officers deployed a Taser and safely took the suspect into custody.

The suspect, identified as Anthony Perot, was found to be in possession of narcotics. Officers also recovered the discarded firearm. Further investigation revealed that Perot is a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm. His criminal history includes multiple felony convictions, such as:

  • A 2020 conviction for aggravated assault with a firearm
  • A 2013 conviction for armed robbery
  • A 2015 conviction for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • A 2016 conviction for battery of a police officer

Thanks to the quick thinking and decisive action of the patrol officers, a dangerous individual was
apprehended before he could harm anyone. He now faces charges for Possession of a firearm by a felon,
resisting, Illegal Carrying of a firearm, and Possession of Narcotics.
