Shreveport Police officers responded to a major accident involving a single vehicle on Interstate 220 near the Interstate 49 interchange on Thursday, April 24, at approximately 10:06pm. 

The vehicle involved was a red 18-wheeler. Upon arrival, officers found the crash scene to be severe and
immediately contacted Shreveport Fire Department personnel. Once on scene, firefighters advised that the driver of the 18-wheeler was deceased.

The Shreveport Police Department’s Crash Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that the 18-wheeler was traveling westbound on Interstate 220 when, for reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the vehicle. The truck veered off the roadway, struck a guardrail, and then collided with a concrete wall. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle and resulted in a fatality.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
