Traffic stop leads to arrest of repeat DWI offender, recovery of stolen firearm

Shreveport Police officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard after observing a vehicle speeding through the area on Monday evening, April 21, just after 7pm. 

Upon making contact with the driver, identified as Floyd McDuffy, officers discovered he was operating the vehicle with a suspended license stemming from a previous DWI conviction. McDuffy also appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the stop. He was taken into custody as officers initiated a field sobriety test.

During the course of the investigation, officers discovered that McDuffy was in possession of a stolen firearm. As a result, he now faces multiple charges including:

  • DWI (3rd Offense)
  • Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License for DWI
