With a place in college baseball history within reach, even the weather is working in favor of the unbeaten LSUS Pilots.

The final LSUS baseball series of the regular season begins in Shreveport because of weather considerations.

LSUS has a turf field while opponent Jarvis Christian does not.

The Pilots (44-0) have an opportunity to record the longest winning streak in college baseball history this weekend.

LSUS will play a single game today at 6 against Jarvis Christian (5-24), then the action shifts to Hawkins, Texas and the JCC campus with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1. The schedule was juggled this morning, moving the twinbill to Saturday.

Hawkins is located 20 miles north of Tyler in east Texas.

If LSUS wins the first two games, the final game of the series Saturday would be the record breaker.

Savannah State (NCAA Division II) owns the current record at 46-0 set in 2000.

LSUS already has broken NAIA records for most wins to open a season (37) and most consecutive wins (42).
