Bossier’s charge to another state championship game appearance was a showcase for senior forward Kerel Dean and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association couldn’t help but notice.
Dean earned first-team All-State honors on the LSWA’s boys Class 4A team roster announced over the weekend. The 6-7 playmaker scored 22.7 points per game while averaging 10.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.2 blocks for the Bearkats.
Northwood’s Jaila Marshall, the District 1-4A Most Valuable Player, was a second-team girls 4A All-State selection. She averaged 19 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists for the Lady Falcons.
Teammate Makayla Rogers was among four local honorable mention girls All-State choices. Others recognized were Shelunda Brooks from Woodlawn and two Southwood standouts, Kamara Effit and Fran Green.
Two other local boys were honorable mention selections: Rodrieon Dillard of Booker T. Washington and Brandon Henderson from Woodlawn.
