
The Shreveport Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 3000 block of Fisher Dr. at 8:36am on Saturday, March 22. The call was placed by the homeowners, who was alerted to the fire by a working smoke alarm.
Upon receiving the emergency call, Shreveport Fire Engine #6 arrived on the scene at approximately 8:40am, reporting visible smoke and flames coming from the right side of the structure. A swift and coordinated response led to the fire being brought under control in under twelve (12) minutes, minimizing further damage and preventing any injuries to both the public and firefighters. Shreveport Fire Department had 8 units on scene – 20 firefighters and support staff – respond to this incident.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during this incident. The fire is currently under investigation by the Shreveport Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Division to determine the cause and origin.
Shreveport Fire and Prevention Officer Jeffrey Witte was present at the scene and emphasized the importance of functioning smoke alarms in homes. “Working smoke alarms are a critical tool in alerting residents to a fire and can save lives. It’s essential for everyone to check their smoke alarms regularly to ensure they are in proper working order,” Witte stated.
