Bossier Parish sweeps doubleheader with Northeast Texas

Bossier Parish Community College’s baseball team scored 19 runs Friday, including a pair of Hayden Stringfellow home runs as it swept a doubleheader against visiting Northeast Texas, raising the Cavaliers’ record to 17-5.

In the 7-1 opening victory, Stringfellow ripped a three-run home run in the first inning, providing an immediate lead for BPCC. Stringfellow blasted another home run later in the game.

Dylan Biddick was a key contributor for the Cavaliers with three hits, while Gianluca Montanaro added two. On the mound, Ben McKinnon delivered a solid performance, pitching five innings, allowing only one earned run and five hits. Zander Bretza closed out the game with two innings securing the win.

The second game was a 12-8 victory for Bossier Parish. Biddick and Montanaro each kept their bats sizzling with three hits apiece, and Parker Gwyn contributed two.  Benett Mittelsteadt added two hits for the Cavs.

Garrett Blanchard pitched five innings, giving up five hits and recording two strikeouts. Jake Guidry was effective out of the bullpen, allowing only three hits and no runs in two innings. Brandon Levy sealed the victory with a solid inning of work.

Today BPCC will be on the road against Delgado, playing in Lafayette at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field at Russo Park on the UL-Lafayette campus.

The Cavs host sixth-ranked LSU-Eunice Wednesday afternoon at 3.
