Greenwood PD shares two non-criminal cases

Not everyday involves writing tickets, arresting folks, working crashes, and investigating crimes, according to the Greenwood Police Department.

Lt. Parker and Chief Gibson responded to two calls at the TA Truck Stop and RV Park on Feb. 13. The first call reported a suspicious male lingering around females at the ATM. Upon arrival, Chief Gibson made contact with the male who initially appeared non-verbal. Lt. Parker was able to get the male talking a little bit. Soon the officers learned that the male was listed in NCIC as a Missing/Endangered Person from another state. With the assistance of Caddo Fire District 3, the officers were able to get him safely to a local hospital to treat his immediate needs and get in contact with his family members.

The second call involved a verbal dispute between a husband and wife. The wife came to the United States from a foreign country last week to live with her American husband of several years. Lots of noncriminal allegations were made, including allegations of her being left in the middle of nowhere in the snow, but not confirmed. After determining that no physical abuse had occurred, Lt. Parker contacted the wife’s family and was able to secure airfare for her to be reunited with them.

Police never know what calls for service await them when they get 10-8, but they are happy to assist even when no crimes have been committed.
