Shreveport Fire tackles blaze in the 800 block of Brushy Lane

The Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to reports of a house fire in the 800 block of Brushy Lane on Thursday, Jan. 30, around 3:06pm. The 911 call was made by several callers, including the occupant, to the Caddo 911 Dispatch Center that a house was on fire with smoke and flames visible.

Upon arrival at approximately 3:10pm, the first fire crew from Station #5, led by Captain Daniel Turner (Engine #5), encountered heavy smoke and flames visible from the front of the one-story, brick veneer residence. Firefighters immediately initiated a coordinated attack to suppress the fire.

The occupant of the residence had noticed smoke and flames visible coming from their bedroom and immediately evacuated the structure before calling 911. The fire was placed under control within 14 minutes of the first crew’s arrival, with 12 fire units—comprising 26 firefighters and support personnel—responding to the scene.

Fortunately, this house fire did not result in any injuries to Shreveport firefighters or citizens of Shreveport.

The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the Shreveport Fire Investigation Office.
