TYLER, Texas – Both teams had excellent shooting nights but LSUS’s rebounding dominance and 21 points from Trey Boston made the difference for the visiting Pilots in a 92-82 Red River Athletic Conference men’s basketball win at Texas College Tuesday night.

Winning their third straight, the Pilots (12-7, 9-6) dominated on the boards, finishing with a 29-15 rebounding advantage that created second-chance opportunities. LSUS converted 67 percent of its shots from the field, 57 percent from beyond the arc, and 75 percent from the free throw line.

Along with Boston, four more Pilots scored in double digits. Taj Anderson pitched in 15 points, while Melvion Flanagan and Davion Coleman contributed 14 points each. Devonte Austin added 12 points. Meikkel Murray pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Texas College (5-10, 4-9) was led by Jacob Key, who posted a game-high 29 points and added five rebounds. Romeo Postell contributed 24 points, while Kenneth Montgomery chipped in with 11 points. Despite a strong offensive performance — shooting 59 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range — the Steers fell short in the closing moments.

Boston had 28 points Saturday in a triple overtime win at home over Texas A&M-Texarkana.

LSUS WOMEN 62, TEXAS COLLEGE 39:  The Pilots dominated a struggling opponent, moving to 15-3 overall and 14-1 in RRAC action wile Texas College fell to 4-12, 3-10.

Racheal Emmanuel recorded a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds for LSUS, which won its 10th straight. Paula Gonzales Herrero contributed 13 points and four steals. Helena Galunic added 12 points and six rebounds.

Defensively, the Pilots stifled the Steers’ offense, holding Texas College to just 21.4 percent shooting from the field.

LSUS doesn’t play this weekend, taking the court again when the Pilots travel to New Orleans to take on Xavier in a key conference doubleheader. The Xavier women are unbeaten overall and in league play heading into the weekend.
