SPD officers were conducting tactical patrols on Jan. 9 at around 12:46am when they conducted a lawful traffic stop at the intersection of Lunn Dr. and Hilry Huckaby Ave. The stop was conducted without incident.

Officers made contact with the driver, identified as Lerosa Bryant. While retrieving paperwork from his glove box, officers observed a clear plastic baggie containing a leafy green substance, suspected to be marijuana, in plain view. 

A subsequent search of the vehicle, conducted incident to arrest, revealed a pistol concealed inside a closed console within the vehicle’s dashboard. The firearm was seized and will be destroyed in accordance with departmental policy. 

Bryant was arrested and charged with Illegal Carrying of a Firearm and Possession of Narcotics.
