LSUS splits at LSUA Saturday, BPCC swamped at Trinity Valley, Centenary men win nailbiter

ALEXANDRIA – A second-half surge that created 14 turnovers by LSUA sparked a 76-60 victory Saturday for the visiting LSUS women to start a Red River Athletic Conference basketball doubleheader that tipped off the 2025 portion of both teams’ schedules.

The Pilots, who received Top 25 votes in the last NAIA poll of the season, improved to 12-3 overall and an impressive 11-1 in league play.

The Pilots outshot their hosts 47-35 percent.

Helena Galunic topped LSUS with a game-high 18 points, adding five rebounds and three assists. Paula Gonzales Herrero scored 17, while Selma Markisic contributed 10 points,  and Racheal Emmanuel added 10 points 

The Pilots are home Tuesday at 5:30 against Jarvis Christian to start a RRAC doubleheader with the men’s game following at 7:30.

CENTENARY MEN 69, OZARKS 68:  Craig Collier’s career-high 31 points included a game-winning three-point play with 14 seconds left Saturday on the road.

Collier finished 12-20 from the floor, 4-7 from beyond the arc, and 3-3 from the free-throw line with five assists. Quentin Beverly scored 17 and Jakobi Greenleaf added 11 for the Gents, now 3-7 overall and 1-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference games. Ozarks dipped to 9-2, 1-1 while having an eight-game winning streak snapped.

Centenary held Ozarks to 37 percent shooting to help overcome a 47-27 rebounding disadvantage.

The Gents are home Tuesday night for a non-conference 7 p.m. game against LeTourneau at the Gold Dome.

LSUA MEN 109, LSUS 75: The Generals, ranked fifth in the last NAIA Top 25 poll, took command in the second half with 14 unanswered points into a 24-point lead and had six double-figure scorers.

Hayden Brittingham and Melvion Flanagan paced the Pilots’ offense, each tallying 18 points. Brittingham added six rebounds to his stat line, while Flanagan chipped in three boards for LSUS (9-7 overall, 6-6 RRAC). All-America guard Kashie Natt led LSUA (14-1, 11-1) with 16 points.

TRINITY VALLEY CC 85, BOSSIER PARISH CC 50:  In men’s action at Athens, Texas, Saturday, nationally-ranked Trinity Valley held BPCC to 31 percent shooting and dominated in the 2025 debut for both teams.

Braylon McNeal’s 10 points led the Cavaliers (10-3 overall, 2-3 in Region XIV). The Cardinals (12-1, 4-1) hit 52 percent of their shots and outrebounded BPCC 34-19.

Bossier Parish is home twice this week, Wednesday at 5:30 against Tyler JC and Saturday afternoon at 2 when Lamar State-Port Arthur visits Billy Montgomery Gym.

OZARKS WOMEN 84, CENTENARY 44:  The Ladies got 14 points each from Layla Powell and Anayah Yunusah, but made only 35 percent of their shots and allowed Ozarks to sink 51 percent. Centenary dipped to 1-9 overall, 0-2 in the SCAC while Ozarks (8-3, 2-0) swept the season series after a 14-point win at the Gold Dome last month.
