The City of Shreveport Department of Water and Sewerage is pleased to announce that contractors have mobilized to begin rehabilitation work on the Linwood Elevated Tank, located off Flournoy Lucas Road near Interstate 49.
This vital infrastructure project marks a significant step toward improving water service reliability for residents in the southeast areas of the city while also enhancing the Shreveport skyline. The rehabilitation will include comprehensive interior and exterior coating upgrades and equipment modernization to ensure the tank meets current operational and safety standards. In addition, the tank’s new design will feature the creative work of local artist Terri Rhodes White, whose submission won the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC) Water Tank Design Contest. This artistic addition will symbolize progress and showcase local talent in one of the city’s most visible landmarks.
The Linwood Elevated Tank will be out of service for approximately 3-4 months during the rehabilitation process. The temporary removal from operation has been carefully tested, in the field and virtually, to minimize impacts to customers The City will be constantly monitoring the progress of this project and are prepared to make adjustments as needed to ensure service reliability. If customers experience any issues, they should report them to the Dispatch team at 318-673-7600.
This project is made possible thanks to funding awarded by the Water Sector Commission.
