It was a rough Friday night for local teams in the smaller two classifications as all four in action fell to outside opponents.
Union Parish 56, North Caddo 0: The Titans (3-3, 1-2) have taken some lumps this season and Friday night they took a few more. Playing without standouts Mason Jackon and Tray Morris, North Caddo fell hard in a District 1-2A game against the defending Non-Select Division III state champion Farmers (3-3, 2-0).
“We played a double overtime game last week against Mansfield and we have some bumps and bruises left over from that game,” Titans coach Clint Thompson said. “We held out our two most productive players. Hopefully they’ll be back next week for D’Arbonne Woods, but we went in a little undermanned. And Union Parish is obviously a very very strong program and we’re not at that level yet.”
North Caddo’s next opponent is D’Arbonne Woods (5-1), whose only loss is to Calvary Baptist.
Bastrop 41, Green Oaks 12: Stedtravioius Brisker and Montavioius Kelly scored touchdowns for the Giants in a non-district loss to visiting Bastrop (5-1). Green Oaks falls to 1-5 and will travel to Homer for a District 1-2A contest next week.
Cedar Creek 64, Plain Dealing 0: Both teams went into the contest in north Bossier Parish seeking their first win of the season. Cedar Creek prevailed, rushing for over 400 yards while not allowing a first down to the Lions.
Plain Dealing coach Clint Walker said his team is dealing with a lack of numbers as well as youth and inexperience. Some of his players are still in middle school.
“We’re hurting on numbers,” Walker said. “We’re down to like 13 or 14 kids. That’s one of our problems. And we have a bunch of young kids out there. (We’re) undermanned.”
Plain Dealing (0-6, 0-3) travels to Arcadia next week in what might be a more favorable matchup for the Lions.
D’Arbonne Woods 46, Magnolia School of Excellence 0: The outmanned Mariners remained winless (0-5, 0-3) as the visiting Timberwolves (5-1, 2-1) dominated the District 1-2A matchup in Shreveport.
