BTW cashes in on Dillard’s dealing, takes Soul Bowl

JOURNAL SPORTS

Aaron Dillard scored all four Booker T. Washington touchdowns Saturday evening as the Lions never trailed, but had to repel a Green Oaks rally to secure a 26-14 victory in the schools’ annual Soul Bowl matchup.

His scores were on two 1-yard runs, an 11-yarder and a clinching 10-yard TD coming down the stretch in the fourth quarter to pad the Lions’ lead to two scores. Dillard was the obvious choice as Soul Bowl Most Valuable Player, running for 86 yards on 21 carries for BTW (2-1).

Green Oaks (1-2) got 137 yards rushing on 17 carries from quarterback Tovoras Lee, but was hampered by turnovers and 15 penalties. Lee scored the Giants’

Touchdowns on runs of 10 and 39 yards and tossed a two-point conversion pass.

BTW will be at home again next Friday, hosting Bossier in a District 1-4A tonesetter. Green Oaks also hosts its game this Friday, at Northwood’s Jerry Burton Stadium, against Union Parish, a winless but dangerous defending state champion.
