The hometown feel was a real advantage for Eric Regard and Jacob Wyatt as they teamed up to card an impressive 17-under par over 36 holes this weekend at Southern Trace Country Club, capturing the Louisiana Golf Association’s 41st Annual Four-Ball Championship.

In fact, the top three teams were all locals, along with four of the top seven (including ties), while two more local golfers teamed with out-of-town partners to record top seven finishes.

Regard, a Shreveport resident, and Bossier City’s Wyatt raced to the lead Saturday with a nine-under 63, then posted a 64 Sunday that included an ace by Wyatt on the 16th hole.

Their two-day 127 total was two better than the card posted by the Shreveport duo of Jeremey Jeansonne and Chase Leone. Finishing third was another Shreveport pair, the young combination of Grant Reagan and James Holtsclaw, at 130.

Shreveport’s Nicholas Wright and Sulphur resident Landen East tied for fifth at 134.

The Shreveport family twosome of Brooks and Porter May tied for seventh at 136, along with Shreveporter Michael Lauve and West Monroe’s Gray Kingrea.
