Six local boys and four local girls earned spots on the 2024 Louisiana Track and Field Association’s just-announced All-State team based on performances in the LHSAA state meet held at LSU in Baton Rouge.

Huntington senior Demetria Harris earned three spots on the team in the triple jump (a meet-best 40-8 ¼), 100-meter hurdles (14.2) and the long jump (19-1 ½).

Chloe Larry, a senior at Parkway, threw the javelin 142-feet, three inches for a spot. It is her third all-state team of the year after making the 5A girls basketball team and 5A softball team.

Airline’s Shelby Ladet jumped 5-feet-5 in the high jump to earn her spot and Haughton discus thrower Aniyah Hill earned her spot with a 134-foot toss.

The six local boys were evenly split with three each earning spots on the track and in the field.

Jeremiah Boudreaux of Airline ran a state-best 36.76 in the 300-hurdles, Jack Burney from Calvary blistered the 800 in a state-best 1:53.23 and Parkway’s Brennan Robin ran a 4:14.76 in the 1600.

Weightman Devon Oliver of Parkway tossed the discus 172-8, while Roy Morris Jr. from Evangel jumped 23-9 ½ n the long jump and Benton’s Miller Milley went higher than anybody in the pole vault with a 14-11 ½ effort.

The team was comprised of the top two finishers in each event regardless of class in the state meet.
