Three-time defending state champion Calvary Baptist will host Patrick Taylor today in the Select Division III softball quarterfinals at 5 p.m.

The Lady Cavaliers (32-2) have a 13-game playoff win streak that includes eight run-rule wins along the way. All four of last year’s run to their fifth overall state title were run-rule wins.

Patrick Taylor (15-6) is the No. 8 seed and run-ruled Fisher 11-1 in six innings to advance from the second round.

The winner today advances to the state tournament next weekend in Sulphur. Calvary is the lone local team left in the LHSAA postseason.

Sophomore pitcher Kynzee Anderson tossed a perfect game in the Cavs’ 12-0 defeat of Beekman Charter in the second round. Freshmen Carlie Guile and Loren Sivils and junior Elana Franks all had home runs in the win.

Senior Ramsey Walker leads the team with 20 home runs, Sivils has 17, Blair Bockhaus 14 and DJ Lynch 13. As a team the Lady Cavs have hit 84 long balls on the season.

Anderson has a 22-2 record, and a 1.56 earned run average with 240 strikeouts in 130 innings.
