The Department of Water and Sewerage in Shreveport has announced a series of community meetings to address the proposed increase in water and sewer rates. Following an initial announcement, additional sessions have been scheduled to ensure widespread participation and engagement from residents.

Advocated by Mayor Tom Arceneaux, the proposed increase is set at 10% and aims to tackle the rising costs associated with maintaining and supporting the city’s essential water and sewer system. These adjustments are deemed critical for ensuring the sustainability and efficiency of the city’s infrastructure, as well as facilitating future improvements.

To facilitate dialogue and gather feedback from residents, several meetings have been added to the schedule:

• Thursday, February 22, 2024:

  • 12:00 pm at A.B. Palmer Recreation Center
  • 5:30 pm at Southern University Jackson Building Auditorium
  • 7:00 pm at Bill Cockrell Community Center

• Monday, February 26, 2024:

  • 12:00 pm at Valencia Park Community Center

These meetings aim to provide residents with comprehensive information about the proposed changes and offer them an opportunity to voice their opinions and concerns directly to city officials.
