LSU Shreveport announces Demitrius Brown as new Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs

Louisiana State University in Shreveport has appointed Demitrius Brown as the new vice chancellor for student affairs. Reporting directly to Chancellor Robert T. Smith, Brown will be an integral part of the senior administrative team.

In this newly created position, Brown will oversee the Division of Student Affairs, with responsibilities including recruitment, admissions, financial aid, student life, career services, student success, and more. Chancellor Smith expressed confidence in Brown’s ability to promote student success and well-being, emphasizing his extensive experience in student affairs spanning nearly 25 years.

Brown brings a wealth of experience from various roles in higher education, including Director of Residence Education at Mississippi State University, Associate Vice President and Dean of Students at Trinity University, and Dean of Students at Millsaps College, among others. He has also been involved in initiatives such as the Kellogg Foundation’s Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation initiative.

Upon his appointment, Brown expressed excitement about joining the LSUS community and his dedication to fostering a supportive environment for both students and staff. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Science in Counselor Education, Student Affairs in Higher Education, both from Mississippi State University.
