Bossier Parish couldn’t match its hot shooting from a week ago while falling to Navarro College 80-46 Wednesday night in a Region XIV men’s basketball game at the Billy Montgomery Gym.

The Cavaliers only shot 33 percent from the floor and made just 6-of-19 from beyond the arc and 8-of-20 from the free throw line in dropping their overall record to 10-13 and 3-9 in region play. That coming off one of their best shooting nights of the season last Wednesday at home (defeating Tyler 75-72) when they hit 46 percent from the floor and beyond the arc.

Nicholas Kaigler led BPCC in scoring with 14 points and X-Zaevion Barnett had 11. John Awoke, the team’s second leading scorer behind injured Braylon McNeal, was held scoreless for the first time this season.

BPCC led periodically during the first 17 minutes of the first half but the Bulldogs scored the last seven points of the opening half to take a 34-27 lead into the locker room at the break.

Navarro (12-10, 5-7) held Bossier Parish to seven points for first 11 minutes of the second half outscoring the Cavs 24-7 to stretch its lead to 58-34.

BPCC goes on the road Saturday to face a hot Kilgore College that has won three straight and is 17-6, 7-5.
