Evangel’s Gilreath brothers won individual championships and Airline’s Ty Parker also won one at the LHSAA Wrestling State Tournament held at the Brookshire Grocery Arena in Bossier CIty Friday and Saturday. 

Airline’s Parker took a first place in the 175-pound weight class in Division I while Evangel’s Joseph Gilreath (138-pound) and Michael Gilreath (157-pound) each won state crowns in Division III. 

Parker defeated William Mathis of Dutchtown by decision 8-6. Four other local wrestlers finished in sixth place or better in Division I. A pair of Parker’s teammates placed as Danon Walker was third in the 215-pound class and Logan Olsen finished fifth in the 113-class. 

Benton’s Cooper Reagan was a second-place finisher in the 165-pound class of Division I and Jack McGuire was sixth in the 132-pound class. 

Overall Benton was 10th as a team with 101 points, Airline 11^th with 91 ½ points. 

Parkway finished in seventh place in the Division II standings with three wrestlers placing in the top six. Larry Davis was fourth in the 157-pound class, Dylan Mesloh was fifth in the 190-pound class and Ethan Plunkett fifth in the 215-pound class. 

Evangel finished in sixth place in Division III scoring 147 points with its two state champions joined by two third place finishers, a fourth and fifth place finisher. Third place finishers were Cade Brooks in the 165-pound class and Ashton Dawson in the 285-pound class. Parrish Chambers was fourth in the 106-pound class and Damon Drake fifth in the 215-pound class.
