The Department of Water and Sewerage of the City of Shreveport has issued a voluntary boil advisory for the Southeast Pressure Zone due to widespread pressure loss. This advisory applies to customers located south of East Bert Kouns, certain subdivisions along Linwood Avenue south of Bert Kouns, and the area southeast of the Interstate 49 and 3132 interchange.
The advisory will remain in effect until water samples are collected, analyzed, and cleared. To ensure the safety of water consumption, including fountain drinks, making ice, brushing teeth, or using water for food preparation or rinsing of foods, it is recommended to disinfect water by boiling. Boil water for one full minute in a clean container, starting the one-minute timer after the water has reached a rolling boil. Eliminate any flat taste by shaking the water in a clean bottle or pouring it from one container to another.
Clearance from the Boil Advisory will be granted when satisfactory laboratory test results are obtained. The Department of Water & Sewerage, in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Health, will then rescind the advisory and notify residents that the water has been deemed safe.
We understand the inconvenience this advisory may cause and appreciate your cooperation during this time. The Department of Water and Sewerage is dedicated to ensuring the safety and quality of the water supply to our residents.
