The Cyber Innovation Center (CIC) in north Louisiana commemorates 15 years of fostering a vibrant knowledge-based industry. Craig Spohn, the executive director, reflected on the significant strides, noting, “We’ve diversifying our local economy, a journey that demanded sustained investment from various stakeholders.”

Under Spohn’s stewardship, the National Cyber Research Park (NCRP) thrived, generating over 1,000 jobs annually since 2011 and infusing more than $1 billion into the region. “In October, we inaugurated our fourth building at the Louisiana Tech Research Institute, a testament to our unwavering commitment to workforce development,” shared Spohn.

Transitioning leadership, Spohn expressed unwavering confidence in Kevin Nolten, set to assume the presidency in 2024. “Kevin has been an integral part of our journey,” Spohn remarked, “His decade-long dedication to the CIC encompasses various roles, from Director of Academic Outreach to Vice President, showcasing his expertise in education, training, and workforce development.”

Nolten’s commitment to advancing cybersecurity education and innovation has been recognized by both state and federal governments. “His track record speaks volumes,” Spohn emphasized, “and I trust him to continue propelling our workforce development initiatives, fostering innovation at Air Force Global Strike Command through STRIKEWERX, and championing national cybersecurity endeavors with CYBER.ORG.”

Highlighting the substantial financial support garnered, Spohn emphasized, “CYBER.ORG secured a $34 million grant from CISA, while STRIKEWERX secured $95.6 million in funding through a five-year Partnership Intermediary Agreement with AFGSC.” These financial injections underscore Louisiana’s dedication to technological innovation and education.

In conclusion, Spohn reiterated the ongoing commitment to enriching lives in northwest Louisiana. “Kevin, alongside our dedicated CIC team and supporters across the nation, will continue steering this mission,” he affirmed.

With immense pride in the achievements and a firm dedication to regional growth, Spohn passes the leadership baton to Nolten, marking a transition that signifies the continued progress of the Cyber Innovation Center.
