Bossier Schools Superintendent-elect Jason Rowland has appointed Andrea Spinney to succeed him as Assistant Superintendent of Administration.
A graduate of Bossier Schools, Spinney has dedicated her entire 24-year career in education to the district. She began teaching second grade at Platt Elementary, then moved into administration at Princeton Elementary, where she served as assistant principal and principal. Six years ago, Spinney opened Haughton Elementary, where she is currently principal.
“Mrs. Spinney has led Haughton Elementary to incredible heights,” Rowland said. “She has a passion for administrators; so much so that she created an initiative that led to our first-year principal mentorship called the Empowering Principals Program. Mrs. Spinney possesses leadership skills that transcend all grade bands and will give us a much-needed elementary perspective for our district lead team.”
Spinney’s accomplishments and recognitions include graduating from the Louisiana Superintendent’s Academy and National Institute for School Leadership; earning her National Board Certification in Early Childhood; being named Bossier Parish Elementary Principal of the Year and Bossier Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year; and acting as President of the Bossier Association of Principals.
Spinney has a favorite quote on leadership: “When you were made a leader, you weren’t given a crown; you were given the responsibility to bring out the best in others.”
“What an honor it is to be joining such an incredible team,” Spinney said. “I am grateful to Superintendent-elect Rowland for the opportunity to continue making a difference in Bossier Schools.”
