Four Shreveport-Bossier high school football teams remain in the LHSAA playoff picture after one week of the postseason, and three play at home next Friday.
Airline, Calvary and Captain Shreve all host second-round playoff games. Each earned a first-round bye and knew they’d be playing at home in Round 2.
Evangel earned its way into the second week of the prep postseason, as expected. The Eagles (7-4), seeded 12th in Select Division II, breezed by Belaire 49-0 at home Friday night.
They’ll be traveling to meet Archbishop Shaw (8-2), the No. 5 seed, in New Orleans. Shaw has scored 55, 55 and 57 points in its last three games and had a first-round bye last week.
In Non-Select Division I, Airline will be hosting Southside from Lafayette. The Vikings are the fourth seed with a 9-1 record, the only blemish a 60-35 homefield defeat to Captain Shreve in midseason. Southside (8-3), seeded 13th, advanced by plastering Thibodaux 42-9.
Calvary welcomes Menard in Select Division II. The Cavs (10-0) are seeded second behind defending state champion St. Charles. Menard (8-3) of Alexandria is seeded 15th and moved forward by beating No. 18 Houma Christian 23-8.
Shreve lines up at Independence Stadium in a Select Division I contest against Rummel, which will make its second straight trip to Shreveport. Rummel (5-6), seeded 18th, jumped on top early with a pick-six and a subsequent score on its first offensive possession in a 34-14 victory at 15th-seeded Northwood in Blanchard Friday night in the first round.
The Gators (9-1), whose only defeat is to Calvary, are seeded second statewide, trailing only Holy Cross (8-2).
