The Bossier Parish Lady Cavaliers won their first two games in the Region XIV Softball Tournament in which they are the hosts, and only need one more win to advance to the National Junior College Tournament.

Lightning and rain delays Saturday afternoon forced a change in the schedule that originally had the winners bracket championship being played on Sunday. It’s now moved to today. Rain Sunday afternoon forced another change as the last game of the day between San Jacinto and Galveston was suspended in the third inning and will be finished today at 11 a.m.

The Lady Cavaliers will play Angelina at 1:30 today in the winner’s bracket title game. The winner would go to the national tournament and a loss places that team in the second-place game to be played Tuesday at noon. The winner of that contest will also advance to the national tournament.

BPCC defeated Trinity Valley on Saturday afternoon 4-1 as Makinzie Stutts had a two-run single and Madison Ruiz had a run-scoring single in a four-run second inning for the Cavs’ only hits in the game. Macie LaRue got the complete-game win in the circle, allowing only five hits.

Debra Tofi’s walk-off single in the seventh inning of the Lady Cavs’ first game in the tournament provided BPCC a 3-2 win over Blinn in nine innings.
