Barring impending inclement weather, the LHSAA baseball playoffs will get underway today and tomorrow for five of the nine local teams that qualified.

Evangel is scheduled to host McKinley of Baton Rouge today in the first two games of its three-game series in the Select Division II bracket. A third game, if necessary, is set for Friday at Evangel. The Eagles are the No. 13 seed and bring a 10-20 record into the game with the No. 20 Panthers (9-14).

The only other local team set to begin its three-game series today is Benton (19-15), who travels to Natchitoches to play the Chiefs in a first-round game in Non-Select Division I. Natchitoches Central (24-9) is the 13th seed and Benton No. 20. Games two and, if necessary, three in the series will be played Saturday in Natchitoches as the coaches anticipated bad weather late Thursday into Friday.  The Tigers and Chiefs split the regular-season series.

Parkway (21-8) and Haughton (22-11) are scheduled to begin their Non-Select Division I series Friday.

The Panthers, the No. 9 seed, will host No. 24 Chalmette (18-11). The Bucs are a No. 10 seed and play No. 23 Covington (24-9).

Loyola (9-21) is on the road to New Orleans to face Newman (11-20) in a Select Division III series. The Flyers are the No. 19 seed and Greenies are No. 14.
