Calvary Baptist, the top seed in Select Division III, was the only local survivor in LHSAA softball playoff games played Wednesday across the state.

The Lady Cavaliers looked like the No. 1 seed in their bracket with a 15-0 whitewash of No. 16 Catholic-New Iberia in four innings.

Kynzee Anderson was unhittable allowing only one base runner, a walk to the fifth batter she faced, after striking out the first four. She struck out 10, getting the last two batters she faced to ground out.

The Lady Cavs scored nine runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead. Ramsey Walker hit two home runs in the inning —  the first a two-run shot, the second a grand slam. She finished the game with seven RBI after hitting her third home run to lead off the third inning.

That wasn’t all of the long balls as Elena Franks had a pair of her own in three at bats and drove in three runs. Mary Grace Woodle highlighted a four-run third inning with a three-run home run.

Calvary will take its 23-10 record into the quarterfinals in Alexandria on Saturday against No. 9 Menard (20-15) with first pitch set for 3 p.m. The Lady Eagles defeated Metairie Park Country Day 15-0 in five innings.

WALKER 7, AIRLINE 1: The Lady Vikings took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning only to relinquish the lead in the bottom of the inning and stayed within striking distance at 3-1 through five innings of the Non-Select Division I game in Baton Rouge. Airline (22-11) couldn’t come up with the hits it needed down the stretch and the Lady Wildcats broke through with four runs in the sixth.

“We just didn’t get any timely hits,” said Airline coach Brittany Frazier. “We did put pressure in the first couple of innings, scored in the third and there were no timely hits after that.”

Elena Heng led off the third with a single, stole second with two outs and scored on a Natalie Sutton single for the Lady Vikes’ only run.

ARCHBISHOP CHAPELLE 6, CAPTAIN SHREVE 0: Lady Chipmunk pitcher Kayla Giardina didn’t allow a hit and struck out 17 to shut down the Lady Gators at Butch Duhe Park in Kenner.  Shreve finished the season with a 21-10 record. Chapelle moves on to the quarterfinals on the Select Division I bracket with a 26-5 mark.

PINEVILLE 15, NORTHWOOD 4: The Lady Falcons couldn’t keep pace with the host fourth-seeded Lady Rebels in dropping the Select Division I game in five innings. Northwood (15-10) got all of its runs in the fourth inning as Mackenzie Jagers doubled, Emily Ballentine had an RBI-single and Millie Kapera knocked in the last two runs with a single.

BUCKEYE 15, EVANGEL 0: The Lady Eagles fell to the Select Division II top-ranked Lady Panthers on the road. Evangel (11-22) managed only a Haven Brooks single in the three-inning game.

ST. CHARLES 11, LOYOLA 0:The third-seeded Lady Comets scored seven runs in the third inning in taking the Select Division III game from the No. 14 Flyers. Ka’Lea Davis had two of Loyola’s three hits on the day as the Flyers finished the season 11-10.
