The softball regular season came to an end Wednesday with teams like Captain Shreve and Northwood getting in a non-district game hoping to improve positions in their respective playoff bracket.
The Lady Gators defeated the Lady Falcons 8-1 in a game of a pair of Select Division I playoff teams. The Lady Gators were the No. 12-rated team and Northwood just a slot below at 13 entering the game.
Aubry Townsend led the Gators at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Jayda Martin was 2-for-2 and Ella Hendrick 2-for-4 with a double. Hendrick got the win in the circle for Shreve, now 20-9.
CEDAR CREEK 11, HAUGHTON 8: The Lady Cougars (16-13) were the No. 4-ranked team in Select Division IV and the Lady Bucs (15-11) stood at 19th in non-select Division I. Ariana Mathews and Emily Vickers led a 14-hit attack for Haughton, both going 3-for-4. Mathews drove in two runs.
PARKWAY 9, EVANGEL 7: The Lady Panthers pounded out 13 hits with Macee Thompson leading the parade with three in four at bats that included two doubles. Madison Menard, Avery Schoenborn, Tara Fontenot and Haley Jacobe all had two hits for Parkway (11-13). For Evangel (10-21), Haven Brooks posted three hits and Olivia Pandiella, Caroline Tew and Gabbi Olagne all had two with Pandiella and Brooks clubbing doubles.
