The Shreveport Mudbugs close out a six-game homestand this weekend on George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum and they’ll embrace the opportunity – because life on the road is imminent.
Following a pair of games against Odessa on Friday and Saturday, the Mudbugs will play just two more home games (Oct. 21-22) before Dec. 2.
Shreveport (2-4-2) ended a five-game winless streak with a comeback victory on Saturday. They’ll need to continue the momentum against the Jackalopes (1-4-1).
“Anytime you have home ice, you have to take advantage of it,” Mudbugs associate head coach Michael Hill said.
The Mudbugs already find themselves seven points off the NAHL South Division lead held by New Mexico (6-1-1).
“We’d like to get the two wins – four points will go a long way this weekend,” Mudbugs forward Jake Mack said.
Notes: Shreveport goaltender Tommy Aitken has started between the pipes in seven of the team’s eight games this season. He’s 2-3-2 despite a 2.13 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage … Odessa is winless in its past five games … Shreveport already owns the league lead in attendance (2,067) … the Mudbugs’ penalty-kill unit is ranked 6th in the NAHL (87.1 percent).
