In Division III, Loyola’s Mary Elberson and Taylor Nash will meet Marilla Congeni and Olivia Boyd of New Orleans’ Academy of Sacred Heart in this morning’s semifinals of girls’ doubles. A victory will put them in this afternoon’s championship match against the winner of the Archbishop Hannan team of Delaune/Smyczynski and the Isidore Newman team of Cunningham/Gray.

Elberson and Nash defeated Foret/Harper of Ursuline Academy 6-1, 6-2 in the first round, O’brien/Fontenot of Jennings 6-2, 6-1 in the second round, and Payne/Phillips of Isidore Newman 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.

Loyola’s boys’ doubles teams of Brannigan Bissell/Sanders Graf and Patrick Gooszen/Charles Valiulis fell in the quarterfinals Tuesday night.

In Division IV, No. 1 seeded Zach Hicks and Jake Brown of Calvary meet Lincoln and Henley Oertling of Pope John Paul II at 8 a.m. in today’s first semifinal match in boys’ doubles. A victory for the regional champs will put them in this afternoon’s championship match against the winner of the Christ Episcopal School team of Burdett/Harrison and Dunham’s second-seeded team of Gleason/Harrod.

After coming back to win their first-round match against Dunham’s George Harrod and Milo Johnston 4-6, 6-0, 1-0, Hicks and Brown cruised with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Andrew Beshenich and Hayes Christian of Northlake Christian in the second round and a 6-2, 6-1 quarterfinal win over Seth Danz and Brody Doan of St. Thomas Aquinas.

Calvary’s Cayden Simmons and Evangel Christian’s Alexander Jayroe each won two singles matches before falling in the quarterfinals.

Both divisions will play today’s semifinals and championship matches at Heard Stadium on the ULM campus. Monday’s scheduled first round was rained out and delayed until Tuesday.

The Division I and Division II state tournament will get underway Thursday and conclude Friday.
