Benton, Airline and Captain Shreve got the 2022 softball season started with run-rule wins on Tuesday.
Benton scored in each of the four innings it went to the plate in a 13-3 five-inning decision over Caldwell Parish at home.
The Lady Tigers were led at the plate by Christina Gegg who was 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and Meaux Carroll had two hits in three at bats and drove in four runs. Kennedy LaPierre (double), Piper Stephens (triple) and Tayler Gonzales (home run) all contributed extra base hits for Benton.
Ava Defee picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Tigers.
AIRLINE 10, NORTH WEBSTER 0: The Lady Vikes opened the season with a 5-inning whitewash of the Knights. Elena Heng had a pair of triples in two at bats, Taelor Smith was 3-for-3 with a home run and Jina Buffato had a single and home run in four at bats. Nat Sutton hit a home run and Aleena Duran recorded a double and was the winning pitcher striking out nine in five innings of work.
CAPTAIN SHREVE 16, SUMMERFIELD 1: The Lady Gators took the 4-inning contest as Mikel-Ann Ricardo tossed a no-hitter. Ricardo struck out six and walked none in the circle. Aubry Townsend and Nora Falcon recorded multiple hits with Townsend going deep in the third inning. Falcon was 2-for-4 and Townsend 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs.
WEST MONROE 7, HAUGHTON 6: At West Monroe, the Lady Rebels got a pair of runs in the fifth inning to overcome the Bucs in the season opener for both teams. Breanna McClanahan hit a two-out grand slam for Haughton in the third inning as the Bucs scored five runs to take a 6-4 lead. Kylie Small was 3-for-4 and Ariana Matthews 2-for-4.
