Airline girls down Byrd to move into third place tie

Airline’s Lady Vikings pulled into a tie for third place in District 1-5A with a 57-38 win at Byrd Tuesday night.

The Vikings improve to 21-12 overall and 7-6 in 1-5A as Kayla Hampton led the charges with 22 points, 9 rebounds and five steals. Kori Rice added 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Vikes who snapped a two-game loss skein.

Byrd drops to 11-15 overall and 0-13 in 1-5A.

PARKWAY 89, CAPTAIN SHREVE 37: The District 1-5A league champion Panthers, ranked No. 2 in the Class 5A power rankings, improved to 13-0 and 28-2 overall with the win as Mikaylah Williams scored 25 points. Zoe Manning led the Lady Gators with 19 points. Shreve drops to 13-15 overall and 5-8 in 1-5A.

HAUGHTON 48, NATCHITOCHES CENTRAL 29: At Haughton, the Lady Bucs continued their turnaround season in defeating the Lady Chiefs. Haughton improved to 16-11 overall and 6-7 in 1-5A after an 8-21, 2-12 season a year ago.

BOOKER T. WASHINGTON 45, NORTH DESOTO 20: At BTW the Lady Lions improved to 21-11 overall and 9-2 in District 1-4A. The Lady Griffins drop to 8-18, 2-8.

HUNTINGTON 60, GIBSLAND COLEMAN 45: The host Raiders got a game-high 23 points from Kalea Dean in a non-district win to improve to 16-6 overall.

MENARD 43, LOYOLA 27: At Alexandria, the Eagles expanded a 13-8 first quarter lead to 22-14 halftime advantage in rolling to the non-district win. The Flyers (13-12) were led by Tiffany Siharath’s 10 points and Emma Sipes added 8. The Eagles
