District races in both District 1s of the upper classifications in the area – 1-5A and 1-4A – are coming down to the final two weeks of the season.
District 1-5A has four teams with Captain Shreve leading the way at 9-1, in the hunt for a title. Natchitoches Central (8-2), Southwood (7-3) and Airline (7-3) all have a shot at climbing into the top spot.
Tuesday’s games match teams from the top half of 1-5A with teams in the lower half.
The league leading Gators (21-5 overall) will host Parkway (5-17, 0-10) Tuesday night riding a five-game win streak.
Benton (10-20, 3-7) plays at Southwood (14-14) in what might be the most interesting. The visiting Tigers had two near upsets last week, taking both Shreve and Natchitoches Central down to the wire before losing. They fell to the Gators 45-41 Tuesday and forced overtime before losing to the Chiefs 59-55 Friday.
Natchitoches (18-5) will travel to play Haughton (15-11, 3-7) who did pull off an upset Friday. The Bucs went into Southwood and pulled out a 47-43 win in the final minute of the game.
Airline (13-8) takes a four-game win streak to Byrd (11-12, 3-7) who has lost its last four.
District 1-4A has Huntington leading the pack at 8-1 and Woodlawn (6-2), Booker T. Washington (6-3) and Evangel (5-3) not far behind.
The Raiders (16-5 overall) have an off playing day Tuesday and host Minden Friday.
Woodlawn (21-8) will host Northwood (13-12, 3-4). The Knight have won four-straight that includes a big non-district triumph of Lakeview in the Battle of the Boot they hosted on Saturday.
North DeSoto (3-17, 0-9) plays at BTW (19-8) who also picked up a win Saturday at the Battle of the Boot defeating Northwood-Lena.
Evangel (16-7) is set to host Minden (4-21, 1-6). The Eagles have lost two-of-three falling to Huntington and BTW. The Tide has won only once in eight games since the start of 2022.
Bossier leads District 1-3A with a 6-0 record and is 21-6 overall. The Bearkats play at Green Oaks (9-15, 2-3) having outscored their district opponents by and average of 37.7 points per game.
Loyola (10-15) has a non-district road date with Menard (14-14) of Alexandria.
North Caddo is leading District 1-2A with a 3-0 record and sports a 10-13 overall mark. The Titans travel to Minden to play Lakeside (0-18, 0-2).
