Loyola girls on verge of 13th straight district championship

The Loyola Flyers took a big step toward their 13th straight district championship in girls soccer with a 6-0 win over North DeSoto at Stonewall.

Kennedy Jarrett scored three goals, Madalyn VanDevender had two and Katelyn McNeill added one as the Flyers to improve to 7-5-4 overall and have won five straight.

Loyola came into the game as the No. 4 seed in Division III and the Griffins were No. 5.

CAPTAIN SHREVE 8, RUSTON 0: The Gators improved to 20-2-3 overall with the road win.

CALVARY 2, AIRLINE 1: The Cavaliers picked up a big win as Carson Davis had a goal and an assist and Jaedan Lee had a goal and Maggie Moore an assist. Calvary improved to 8-6-3 on the season with the win and play next at Evangel on Thursday.

LOYOLA 9, NORTH DESOTO 1: Zach Tuttle had two goals and an assist and Van Van Norman and Declan Chmielewski each had a goal and two assists to lead the Flyers to the road win. Tripp Roemer, Patrick Gooszen, Tyler Hornsby, Mark Henry and Jack Lauve each had a goal for Loyola (8-7, 2-0).

STERLINGTON 2, CALVARY 1: The Cavaliers narrowly missed a comeback draw as Miles Williams had the lone goal for Calvary now 3-7 on the season. The boys play next at Evangel on Thursday.
