Shreveport Police charge suspect in sexual assault investigation

The Shreveport Police Department has arrested Demetri Lagusis on one count of Second-Degree Rape under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:42.1 following an investigation into a reported sexual assault on the campus of Centenary College.

In early September 2026, SPD investigators were contacted by the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office and Centenary College Department of Public Safety regarding a reported assault involving a 17-year-old female. The incident reportedly occurred in mid-August 2026. At the request of the District Attorney’s Office, SPD assumed responsibility for the investigation.

Investigators arranged a forensic interview with the victim and interviewed Lagusis. During the investigation, detectives identified inconsistencies between Lagusis’s statements and information obtained in the case.

Following the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Lagusis with one count of Second-Degree Rape. He is now in custody on that warrant.

The victim’s identity and additional details are being withheld to protect her privacy.
