Remembering Randall George Kilpatrick “Coon Pappy”

Randall George Kilpatrick, known to his family as Papaw and Coon Pappy and to everyone else simply as Randy, will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted family man, hardworking provider, and a man whose humor and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Randy was born on June 28, 1953, to Garland and Maxine Kilpatrick in Bossier City, Louisiana, and passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026, in Bossier City, Louisiana.

A resident of Benton, Louisiana, Randy graduated from Airline High School and lived a life grounded in hard work, family, and a deep love for the outdoors.

Randy retired from Libbey Glass in Shreveport after years of dedication. Outside of work, he found joy in gardening, hunting, and working with his hands. Deer hunting became his favorite pastime in later years, while raccoon hunting, once a special part of his life, earned him the treasured nickname “Coon Pappy.” Though he spent less time coon hunting as he grew older, it remained a meaningful part of his story. To his family, he was Papaw, a name filled with love and memories that time cannot erase.

Of all the things that defined Randy, nothing mattered more than the people he loved. He and Vicky shared 41 years of marriage, building a life marked by loyalty, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Randy’s greatest legacy is found not in titles or accomplishments, but in the joy he brought into his family’s lives and the countless ways he showed his love. He taught through example, through hard work, quiet strength, and the way he lived each day with humility and heart.

His memory will live on in familiar stories, in laughter that echoes his sense of humor, in gardens that reflect his love for growing things, and in the woods that will forever hold a connection to his passion for hunting. The moments he created, from ordinary days to cherished traditions, will remain treasured reminders of the man he was. Randy leaves behind a legacy of love, humility, and strength, one that will continue to grow in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Garland Kilpatrick.

He is also remembered with love by his numerous nieces, nephews, and all those lives he touched throughout his life.
