Haughton and Loyola moved forward, Calvary slipped a spot and Green Oaks tumbled out of the mix in the Week 9 Louisiana Sports Writers Association Top 10 voting.
The Cavaliers (7-1) dipped only slightly, from No. 1 to No. 2 in Class 2A, after a 24-7 loss on the road to Archbishop Shaw, ranked fourth in Class 4A.
Calvary held the top ranking for five consecutive weeks. Notre Dame of Crowley climbed on top this week. The Cavaliers beat the Pioneers in last year’s Select Division III semifinals.
Haughton (8-0) collected seven points, an increase of five, in the “others receiving votes” category in Class 5A after handling Airline 42-28 last Friday.
Calvary (6-0), in its fifth week at No. 1 in Class 2A, received all 11 first-place votes for a fourth straight poll.
Loyola zoomed to the brink of returning to the Class 3A Top 10, leading the “others receiving votes” category with 14 points, five more than the Flyers had a week ago.
Green Oaks’ shocking 40-8 loss at Homer wiped out its support in the “others receiving votes” 2A listing.
No other Shreveport-Bossier teams are getting support.
Twenty teams in this week’s voting are from the 318 area code, including 13 among the 50 who are ranked in their classification’s top 10.
