Community comes together for second annual kids shoot for youth charities

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the success of the second annual “Kids Shoot for Youth Charities,” held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, at the Bossier Sheriff’s Youth Shooting Range. Through the generosity of sponsors, participants and volunteers, this year’s event raised over $70,000 to support organizations dedicated to helping children and families.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Easterseals, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the March of Dimes, The Gingerbread House, Shriners Children’s and, new this year, the Ronald McDonald House. These organizations provide vital services, resources and support to children and families facing a variety of challenges.

The event brought participants from Bossier Parish, Caddo Parish, Webster Parish and Sabine Parish together for a day of friendly competition, sportsmanship and community fellowship, all in support of a meaningful cause. The continued success of this event reflects the willingness of our community to come together and make a difference in the lives of local children and families.

Sheriff Julian Whittington praised the community support that made the event possible.

“Seeing our community come together to support children and families is what makes this event so special. Every sponsor, participant and volunteer played a part in its success, and we are grateful for their generosity. The money raised will help these outstanding organizations continue their important work for children who need it most.”

This year’s top shooters were recognized for their marksmanship and performance in the competition:

• Junior Division Individual: 1st place – Matkin; 2nd place – Simmons; 3rd place – Rowton

• Senior Division Individual: 1st place – Bailey; 2nd place – Bell; 3rd place – McCuen

• Top Female Shooter: S. Cunningham

The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to everyone who sponsored, participated in or volunteered at this year’s event. Their support helps turn a day of competition into a lasting investment in the well-being of children and families throughout our community.
