The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office reported a successful Drug Takeback event, collecting 31 boxes containing a total of 329 pounds of unused prescription and over-the-counter medications.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) thanked everyone who participated in the event.

Residents who still have old, expired, or unwanted medications can dispose of them using the drop box available during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, at Government Plaza, located at 505 Travis Street in Shreveport.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that needles and liquids should not be placed in the drop box.

The next Drug Takeback event is scheduled for the spring.
