Bossier City honors woman with life-saving award for performing CPR on cardiac arrest victim

A Bossier City woman was recognized with a Life-Saving Award during a recent City Council meeting after her quick response helped save the life of a man who suffered cardiac arrest while mowing his yard.

Mrs. Jennings received the award for her actions after witnessing 44-year-old Josh Pilkington collapse while mowing.

According to the City of Bossier City, Jennings immediately rushed to Pilkington’s aid and began performing CPR before emergency personnel arrived.

Crews from Engine 9 and Trauma 9 subsequently arrived and took over his care.

Following the incident, Pilkington made a full recovery with no lasting deficits.

He is scheduled to undergo open-heart surgery in late November to correct the underlying condition that caused the cardiac arrest.

City officials recognized Jennings for her quick thinking and willingness to act during the emergency, while also acknowledging the efforts of the emergency responders who assisted Pilkington.

The city expressed appreciation for Jennings’ actions and extended its best wishes to Pilkington as he prepares for surgery.
