District 1-5A foes who have been trending upward offensively meet tonight at Lee Hedges Stadium when Huntington visits Captain Shreve.

The Gators (4-3 overall, 2-2 in 1-5A) have scored 101 points in their last two games, wins over Parkway and Natchitoches Central.

The Raiders (1-6, 1-2), who played a brutal non-district schedule, have averaged 30 points in the last three games.

Both teams have shown quick strike ability on the ground and through the passing game.

Shreve senior Gabe Lockett had his second straight 200-yard game last week in a 40-27 win at Natchitoches Central, posting a career-best 228 with four touchdowns. He raised his career yards total to 2,100, fifth in school history, 200 yards from passing Jamarlon Otis as the fourth all-time rusher.

Explosive receivers Kaleb Law and Chris Hill, both seniors, provide rapidly-developing sophomore quarterback Maddox Parrott tough-to-cover targets.

Huntington gets a spark from Darius Truvillion running in the wildcat formation. The senior had 125 yards on just six carries last week in a 47-20 loss to Airline. Two sophomores, quarterback Brylan Washington and running back A.J. Johnson, have been the cornerstones of the Raiders’ attack, starring two weeks ago in their 33-28 victory over Byrd.

Shreve stands at 12th in the Select Division I power rankings, in line to host a first-round playoff game. Huntington is just outside the 24-team projected field in Select DI, at 25th.

Captain Shreve won last year’s contest 56-34.
