District 1-5A contests that on the surface look like mismatches may play out otherwise tonight when winless Byrd goes to unbeaten Haughton and one-win Huntington hosts Airline.
Two Bossier Parish 1-5A teams with identical records collide when Benton goes to Parkway.
Northwood’s visit to Minden is the top 1-4A matchup, while Booker T. Washington goes to Bossier looking for a rebound from last week’s lopsided loss to the Falcons.
Three of Byrd’s six losses are by one score, including last week’s 33-28 defeat by Huntington. The Raiders nearly knocked off Franklin Parish, losing in the last minute on the road to a team that won at Airline a week earlier.
Loyola will win tonight without teeing it up. The Flyers will get a 2-0 forfeit win instead of their scheduled homecoming game against Carroll, since the Bulldogs were shut down for the season by the LHSAA two weeks ago for a postgame brawl with fans last month at Assumption. At Carroll’s homecoming event last week, school administrators required football players to pay the public $10 admission fee.
