The Shreveport Police Department reported three arrests following separate incidents involving drivers allegedly fleeing from officers on Sunday, Oct. 11.
According to the department, Kenny Howard, Shelton James, and William Johnson were arrested in three separate incidents involving vehicles. Each faces multiple charges related to allegedly attempting to evade law enforcement.
Howard was arrested on charges of aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation, and obstruction of a roadway. Police said he also received multiple traffic citations.
James was arrested following an incident around 6 a.m. He faces charges of flight from an officer, reckless operation, resisting an officer, and first-offense driving while intoxicated (DWI). Additional traffic citations were issued for violations involving turn signals, traffic signals, modified exhaust, and other offenses.
Johnson was arrested following an incident around 8 p.m. He faces charges of aggravated flight from an officer and careless operation.
The Shreveport Police Department emphasized the dangers associated with drivers attempting to flee from law enforcement, particularly when pursuits involve other motorists and pedestrians.
Police warned that refusing to stop for officers can turn a routine traffic encounter into a dangerous situation, potentially resulting in additional criminal charges.
The department urged motorists to comply with lawful traffic stops and reminded drivers that fleeing from officers places both the public and law enforcement personnel at risk.
All three individuals were taken into custody, according to the department.
The charges are allegations, and all three individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
