Remembering Annette Rita (Chassey) Cote

Annette Rita (Chassey) Cote passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 18, 2026, at her home in Shreveport, Louisiana, just 8 days after her remarkable 102nd birthday. Born July 10, 1924, in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Annette lived life exactly the way she wanted. She embraced every day with determination, independence, faith, and joy.

Though only 4’11”, Annette had a larger-than-life presence. She was stylish, sharp-witted, honest, and fiercely independent. Even at 102, she never left the house without her hair done and makeup on. She carried herself with grace, confidence, and the unmistakable glamour of another era.

A devoted Catholic and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Annette’s greatest joy was her family. She loved hosting Sunday dinners, shopping, baking her grandchildren’s favorite treats, and staying connected to the people she loved through long phone calls and video chats. In her post-retirement years, she taught herself quilting and was one of the first in the family to learn computers and technology. She was an avid animal lover and adored caring for her dog Donnie and cats Max and Moxie. Her kitchen, her table, and her heart were always open.

Annette is survived by her four sons, Roland Cote; Robert Cote and his wife, Marie; John Cote and his wife, Norma; and Peter Cote; and her sister, Yvette Pilch and her husband, Paul. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Cote and his wife, Julie; David Cote and his wife, Paula; Cheryl Palmer and her husband, Justin; Nicholas Cote; Jennifer Cunningham and her husband, Jason; Daniel Cote and his wife, Alina; Robby Cote; Spencer Hogan and his wife, Alyse; and Thomas Hogan and his wife, Julie.

Annette’s family grew to include her great-grandchildren, Madison, Peyton, and Jackson Cote, Lucas Cote and his wife, Destiny; Caroline Sellers and her husband, Kaj; Jordan, Sophia, and Landon Palmer, Cameron and Caden Cunningham, Marcus, Leon, and Rya Cote; and her great-great-grandchildren, Lucas Cote, Jr., Rylee Sellers, Cayleigh Hogan, and Elliott Hogan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cote; her parents, Arthur and Albertina Chassey; her beloved daughters-in-law, Deborah Cote and Yuki Cote; and her siblings, Arthur Chassey, Eleanore Blackman and her husband, Arthur, Roland Chassey, and Wilfred Chassey.

To live for more than a century is extraordinary. But what truly made Annette’s life remarkable was not simply that she was alive for 102 years—it was the fullness to which she lived each day of those years. A service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery on October 17, 2026.
