Louisiana State Fire Marshal (SFM) investigators arrested 38-year-old Sherrick Hill of Shreveport Thursday, Oct. 8, in connection to the death of an individual following an intentionally set residential fire in September.
At approximately 8:18 a.m. on September 1, 2026, the Shreveport Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 3100 block of Drexel Street in Shreveport. A 55-year-old woman suffered burns in the fire and was transported to the hospital, where she died two days later.
The Shreveport Fire Department contacted the SFM in reference to the fire and the murder. SFM investigators obtained a warrant for Hill’s arrest and charged him with Second Degree Murder, Aggravated Arson, and Obstruction of Justice.
The SFM would like to thank the U.S. Marshals Service and the Shreveport Fire and Police Departments for their assistance in solving this case.
The investigation is still ongoing. No further details are available at this time.
